Elections/Automated Delivery Systems

MICHAEL WARD, PRODUCT MANAGER AUTOMATED SYSTEMS, WILLIAMS FIRE & HAZARD, INC.

We will be voting on next years officers at the April meeting. A list of the candidates will be sent out before the meeting. If you are interested in a position, please contact Will at secretary@sfpehouston.org.

Michael came to Williams Fire and Hazard several years ago with a B.S.E.E. from Lamar University and is responsible their unique large capacity automated monitor products and integrating these products with water, foam, and dry chemical delivery systems.

Industry has been using smaller capacity manual firewater monitors to provide cooling water for supplemental “spot” cooling capabilities for decades – primarily in hydrocarbon processing areas and other high risk locations.  With the advent of larger flow capacities along with automatic oscillation and remote control capabilities, large monitor systems are now actually replacing the use of “blanket” coverage sprinkler deluge systems in many applications.  The latest technologies now provide programmable oscillation/remote control functions and integration with other suppression agents like foam and dry chemical through the same large capacity monitors.  These applications can reduce overall field installation costs and interference with process piping.  In addition, monitor systems are less liable to be damaged in initial explosions and can extend the general cooling and suppression capabilities of a deluge system to include more efficient “targeted” suppression and cooling.  With the addition of agents like foam and dry chemical, the suppression capability can be expanded to include actual extinguishment.
